Immigration has become a touchy political subject, and much of the US immigration process can be complicated, confusing and time consuming. Find out more about this legal area, how to get through the process, and how to find an attorney should you need one.

Immigration law governs the rules, regulations, and procedures associated with immigrant and nonimmigrant visas, asylum, adoption of foreign-born children, marriage to foreign nationals, citizenship and naturalization, etc.  these laws and procedures are enforced by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), which is overseen, by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the U.S. state Department of State (DOS).

Immigration laws help control the influx of immigrants and scrutinize the applicants for entry into the U.S.  Because of the heightened security expressed all over the world in recent years, these laws have evolved to become stricter and are more rigorously enforced by all nations.  The enhance scrutiny of immigrant and visitor alike is meant to emphasize the security protocols set in place by the U.S. government to deter terrorism and protect U.S. citizens.  However, the extreme and even aggressive application of these laws has made the process of entry into the United States more difficult for both visitors and asylum seekers.
